Happy In Tehran

Below is a guest post by the animal and human rights activist Luis Leonel

The participants may have been happy but the Iranian authorities didn’t, so the members of the group behind the video were arrested by Iranian police for violating unhappy laws of the country, which prohibit dancing with members of the opposite sex and women from appearing without a headscarf.

They were found guilty and sentenced to up to one year in prison and ninety-one lashes. Finally, the sentence was suspended by three years, but if they reoffend, that’s if they’re happy again, they will go to prison.

Perhaps, happiness is a crime in Iran.
