If you live in the UK please take the following action to help the people of Tibet.
I know this is rather last-minute but I didn’t receive the notification below until this morning. Please ask your MP to attend the Tibet debate on Wednesday December 10th.
Please click the links below for more information and to e-mail your MP before Wednesday the 10th. There is a template letter which you can edit if possible, but please do send either way.The important thing is to show your MP that you would like them to support the people of Tibet.
“Please read the following information from “Free Tibet”and take action
Tibet is on the international political agenda this month, with a delegation from China’s Tibet government in North America, the EU-China Human Rights Dialogue next week and a debate on Tibet in the UK this Wednesday, 10th December.
The UK House of Commons debate is the first time MPs have debated Tibet since 2011. A government minister will be present to listen and respond to MPs and explain the government’s position on Tibet.
The more MPs that attend and speak in support of the Tibetan people, the greater the pressure on the government will be to stand up for Tibet. The 10th December is International Human Rights Day and the debate will focus on the denial of freedom of expression to the Tibetan people.
Please contact your MP before Wednesday 10th December and urge them to attend the debate and speak out for Tibet.
We have provided a sample text below but feel free to use your own (please keep it short and polite). MPs get a great deal of email and your email may not be opened immediately so it is very important that the subject line tells them exactly what you would like them to do.
Also as part of International Human Rights Day, supporters around the world will be showing their solidarity with Tibetans and other communities affected by China’s government. How about lighting a candle where you are this Wednesday? You can share a photo with us on Facebook or Twitter.”
