Below is a guest post by the animal and human rights activist and supporter of free software Luis Leonel.
REMEMBER GITO THE ORANGUTAN?
He was found lying corpse-like with his arms folded across his chest with grey flaking skin and lack of hair which made him look “almost mummified” in a urine-soaked cardboard box in Hamlet Giet, in Borneo, in October past year.
Animal welfare officers at INTERNATIONAL ANIMAL RESCUE believe he had been left after someone tried to keep him as a pet, having been snatched from the wild.
Fortunately, Gito has made a fantastic recovery and is now starting orangutan nursery school.
Remember Gito the orangutan? Remember to donate to animal rights organizations that save thousands of animal lives every year, almost always without any financial support from their countries’ governments?
