More Action to help rabbits: Please Urge Online Retailer Zulily to Stop Selling Angora

Please speak out for helpless rabbits who suffer horrendously as their fur is ripped from their bodies.

infected-angora-bunny

Please send a message to online retailer Zulily which continues to sell angora despite having heard from PETA and their supporters that rabbits are often tied down and scream in pain as their fur is torn out. It is time Zulily joined the  230 companies that have already banned angora-including fellow QVC Group subsidiary QVC, Gap Inc., Lands’ End, H&M, Inditex, Express, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, and many others.

If all retailers stop selling Angora this cruelty will end. Please help PETA’s campaign to urge Zulily’s to stop supporting this cruelty and discontinue it’s sale of clothing and accessories made from angora.

Please support the following campaign from PETA by sending a message to Zulily’s

“Why would anyone want to wear clothing or accessories made with fur from tortured rabbits? Zulily, an online retailer that sells clothing, toys, and home products around the world, continues to do just that—despite learning from PETA that rabbits are abused to obtain angora wool.”

Please read more and send the message. Edit if you can and use your own words, but if this is not possible for some reason simply send the message as it is. Please be polite.

A Look Inside the Angora Rabbit Wool Industry

After watching this video, you’ll never buy Angora again.

Warning: Distressing images which will most definitely upset many people – if you are a normal caring compassionate person that is, sadly there are many people who care only for profit at the expense of animals and are prepared to overlook such vile atrocities as the cruelty behind Angora.

“The undercover footage, shot by PETA Asia, reveals routine cruelty to angora rabbits, whose long, soft fur is often used in sweaters and accessories. The investigator filmed workers who were violently ripping the fur from the animals’ sensitive skin as they screamed at the top of their lungs in pain. After this terrifying and barbaric ordeal, which the rabbits endure every three months, many of them appeared to go into severe shock. After two to five years, those who have survived are hung upside down, their throats are slit, and their carcasses are sold.

Rabbits who have their fur cut or sheared also suffer: During the cutting process, their front and back legs are tightly tethered—a terrifying experience for any prey animal—and the sharp cutting tools inevitably wound them as they struggle desperately to escape.”

SIMONS SUPPORTS CRUELTY TO ANIMALS

“Why would anyone want to wear clothing or accessorize a home with products containing wool or fur that has been ripped from the animals’ skin?,” asks PETA.

LA MAISON SIMONS, commonly known as SIMONS, a fashion retailer in CANADA based in the province of QUEBEC, will reply that many people want to because it continues to sell clothing and home accessories made of fur and angora wool from RABBITS WHO SCREAMED IN PAIN AND TERROR AS WORKERS RIPPED THE FUR OUT OF THEIR SKIN WHILE ALIVE EVERY THREE MONTHS. After several years, the rabbits who will survive this ordeal will be hung upside down and their throats be slit.

Please sign and share the petition to urge Fashion Retailer Simons to halt fur and angora sales.

Urge BCBG MAX AZRIA to Stop selling angora and Fur

Below is a guest post by the animal and human rights activist Luis Leonel

American Fashion company  BCBG MAX AZRIA refuses to stop selling angora and fur despite knowing that many animals used in these vile industries are stripped of their fur and skins while they are still fully conscious.

Shocking undercover footage of China’s angora wool industry—where about 90 percent of the world’s angora comes from—shows workers tying rabbits down and violently ripping their fur out by the fistful.

BCBG also sells fur from Asiatic raccoons ( also known as raccoon dogs ) – animals who are often slammed to the ground and beaten on fur farms.Video footage shows one skinned animal who is still alive and who musters the strength to lift her bloody face up to look at the camera. These animals, along with foxes and other fur-bearing animals, suffer and die so that BCBG can turn their fur into vests, collars, and scarves.

Urge French Connection Not to Resume Selling Angora

“There can be no justification for causing suffering to animals simply to serve man’s pleasure or simply to enhance man’s lifestyle.”
The Dean of York

Update September 21st – I have added a further petition, please scroll down to sign a petition directed to the president of China, asking them to stop cruel angora wool production

Warning some people may find the photo and the video below upsetting.

Please take action to help rabbits.

It is said that there is no sentiment in business, and seemingly there is no compassion for the pain and suffering of helpless animals, no empathy and no ethics as high street retailer French Connection resumes selling angora. As usual profit comes before all else including their promise not to sell angora because of the most horrendous animal cruelty you can imagine when gentle rabbits have their wool ripped from their bodies. What kind of sickening mentality allows people to make such an inhumane decision knowing full well the details of this shocking abuse?

Some of you may recall the PETA campaign to persuade retailers to stop selling angora:
https://rantingsfromavirtualsoapbox.wordpress.com/2013/11/20/rabbits-scream-in-pain-as-their-fur-is-plucked-while-they-are-alive/

As a result of this campaign many retailers discontinued selling angora.
Major retailers including Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Forever 21, and ASOS are now angora-free.

Sadly, though not surprisingly, one retailer French Connection has decided to resume selling angora despite the horrendous cruelty of live plucking from screaming helpless rabbits. Rabbits are stoic creatures, as pry animals they have evolved to hide their pain, it is only when pain is extreme that a rabbit will scream.

If you have any doubts concerning the level of cruelty involved please watch the following video:

A PETA Asia investigation into angora farms in China – the world’s top producer of angora wool – has revealed shockingly cruel treatment of rabbits.

The undercover footage, shot by PETA Asia, reveals routine cruelty to angora rabbits, whose long, soft fur is often used in sweaters and accessories.

Please take Action

Though French Connection is a UK retailer anyone from anywhere may of course take action.

Send a message to French Connection

Angora-rabbit-plucking

French Connection has made the heartless decision to resume its sales of angora, despite being fully informed of the fact that angora is torn from the bodies of live rabbits. PETA Asia’s investigation into the angora wool industry shows how rabbits suffer when the fur is removed from their bodies. Workers rip the fur out of rabbits’ skin, causing the animals to scream in pain. And those who have their fur cut or sheared instead still suffer greatly: Their front and back legs are tethered tightly—a terrifying experience for any prey animal—and they’re stretched out on boards or suspended in the air. The cutting tools that are used invariably wound the rabbits as they struggle to escape. Afterward, these highly sensitive social animals are left in shock—they lie motionless inside their tiny, filthy cages, where they’re denied solid flooring and bedding.

We must do all we can to urge retailers not to resume selling angora. This has come as no surprise. I was only recently thinking that we need to keep an eye open for retailers reneging on their promise to not sell angora. French Connection may be the first to do this probably hoping no one would notice but I would be surprised indeed if they are the last. We need to be vigilant.

Please click the link below if you have not already done so and take the pledge to keep angora rabbit wool out of your wardrobe. It’s easy to check the label when you’re shopping—if it says “angora,” leave it on the rack.

What kind of human being can hear the screams of these rabbits and continue plucking the wool from this defenceless animal. It just turns your stomach to hear those awful screams. Retailers who buy angora from China are complicit, there is no excuse, no justification.

Rabbits Scream in Pain as Their Fur is Plucked While They Are Alive!

As a supporter of animal rights I have come across some shocking instances of cruelty but what follows turned my stomach at the very thought of the sheer cruelty involved. How the hell can any sane rational person commit such an atrocity against a living feeling sentient creature is beyond my ability to comprehend. The pain suffered by these defenceless animals is unthinkable.

Bleeding bunnies scream in pain as they are plucked alive for hats, socks, scarves and jumpers.

A PETA Asia investigation into angora farms in China – the world’s top producer of angora wool – has revealed shockingly cruel treatment of rabbits.

Please continue reading and watch the video

Warning this film is shocking I could not watch for more than a moment or so, the screams from these poor rabbits is unbearable to hear.

Please please read the following information included in the link below and  say no to angora wool and join the campaign against this cruel and violent industry.
http://action.peta.org.uk/ea-action/action?ea.client.id=5&ea.campaign.id=23870

How can any one be so cruel. Rabbits are stoic creatures, as pry animals they have evolved to hide their pain, it is only when pain is extreme that a rabbit will scream.

Please spread this far and wide and do not buy angora products particularly those from China.

Ninety per cent of the world’s angora comes from China where there are no animal welfare laws, no penalties for the abuse of animals on farms and no standards to regulate the treatment of the animals.

Similar atrocities would likely take place in any country where there are no laws to prevent such abuse and cruelty. Did you know that in seventeenth century Ireland wool was once plucked from live sheep rather than shearing. The first legislation directly against animal cruelty in the English speaking world was a bill passed in Ireland in 1635 that prohibited the unimaginable cruelty of pulling wool off sheep and attaching ploughs to horses tails. This bill was the first known animal rights law in history:
http://www.think-differently-about-sheep.com/Animal_rights_a_History_Thomas_Wentworth.htm

There is something deeply wrong psychologically with anyone who callously harms any animal in such an horrific way . To be so unmoved by the screams of an obviously sentient being is disturbing. The mentality shocking, the kind of mentality of the individuals who perpetrate cruelty towards their own species, such as those who ran concentration camps and those who torture people. There is no place in any ethically progressive society for people who can so readily inflict such harm. Such people need to be tightly controlled and until China introduces laws to protect animals,  sadly such inhumane behaviour will continue.

These poor animals need our help. Do not buy angora.   Ask friends and family not to buy angora. Please share this information as much as possible, on and off-line. If you see angora being sold anywhere please complain.

Update

You can now sign a pledge to boycott angora wool by clicking the link below

PLEASE PLEDGE TO LEAVE ANGORA RABBIT FUR OUT OF YOUR WARDROBE. IT’S EASY TO CHECK THE LABEL WHEN YOU’RE SHOPPING AND, IF IT SAYS “ANGORA,” LEAVE IT ON THE RACK:
