Ask NARS Cosmetics to Stop Testing Its’ Products on Animals.

“I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn’t. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it. The pains which it inflicts upon unconsenting animals is the basis of my enmity towards it, and it is to me sufficient justification of the enmity without looking further. It is so distinctly a matter of feeling with me, and is so strong and so deeply-rooted in my make and constitution, that I am sure I could not even see a vivisector vivisected with anything more than a sort of qualified satisfaction. I do not say I should not go and look on; I only mean that I should almost surely fail to get out of it the degree of contentment which it ought, of course, to be expected to furnish.”
Mark Twain – Letter to London Anti-Vivisection Society, May 26, 1899

The most sad aspect of the modern age is that almost anyone will do anything for money. To increase profit – what other explanation is
there – NARS Cosmetics have decided to test their products on animals.

You can help stop cosmetic testing on rabbits and other animals by signing and sharing the following petition.

Until recently NARS cosmetics has been committed to creating products without animal testing. Now, NARS has decided to test its products on animals so they can sell them in China.

Urge NARS to choose compassion over profit by signing and sharing this petition:

NARS: Stick With Commitment to Cruelty-Free Cosmetics

“NARS cosmetics is a popular cosmetics brand that has been committed to creating products without animal testing. Unfortunately, in order to sell products in China, brands must test on animals. Instead of forgoing opening to the Chinese market, NARS has decided to test products on animals so they can sell in China.”

Please continue reading and sign petition:
https://www.thepetitionsite.com/377/823/536/nars-stick-with-commitment-to-cruelty-free-cosmetics/?TAP=1732

Please urge NARS to keep their commitment not to test on animals. Testing on animals is cruel and immoral and now not necessary, profit is likely the sole motivation.

Has anyone noticed how difficult it is to contact manufacturers and retailers, often the contact details are well hidden and aimed at specifcs like customer service.

You might like to contact them by letter or phone:

It is absolutely appalling  that NARS has chosen to take this course of action in order to boost profits rather than take a stand against China’s laws.

Help Stop Cruel Cosmetic Animal Testing in the USA

Act Now to Stop Cruel Cosmetics Tests on Animals in the U.S.

“Every year tens of thousands of animals suffer and die in laboratory tests of cosmetics and household products…despite the fact that the test results do not help prevent or treat accidental or purposeful misuse of the products. Please join me in using your voice for those whose cries are forever sealed behind the laboratory doors.”
Woody Harrelson

Rabbit-Action-Button

In 2013 the EU banned all sales of cosmetics tested on animals and in Israel a similar ban was enacted.  India than followed both the EU and Isreal to become the first country in Asia to ban animal testing for cosmetics and ingredients. Now it is time for the USA, and indeed other countries of course, to follow suit. Sadly though the USA is backsliding rather than progressing in a similar direction:

Instead of keeping pace with the international community, the U.S. is at risk of backsliding into requiring archaic product testing methods in which animals are poisoned and killed for cosmetics. Although the U.S. does not require tests on animals for cosmetics, some environmental and industry groups and decisionmakers in the U.S. have been working to change that by pushing for regulations that would result in an increase in cruel tests on animals.

We need your help to urge the cosmetics industry, federal regulators, and Congress to put a stop to these tests. Americans should have the same level of cutting-edge science used in the EU, India, and Israel to evaluate the safety of our cosmetics products, and we also deserve to have laws that reflect our ethical stance that animals should never be forced to suffer and die in cosmetics tests.

**UPDATE: Please also urge your congressional representatives to support the recently introduced Humane Cosmetics Act, which would ban tests on animals for cosmetics and phase out the sales of animal-tested products in the U.S.! For more information, please visit our blog.

Please take a moment to let decision makers know that no cosmetics product or ingredient is worth inflicting suffering on animals and that America must never allow cruel product tests on animals.

Want to Know which Products are Cruelty Free

While waiting for such bans to take place you can take your own decisive action and avoid cosmetics and other products tested on animals.

Please note:

When checking out cruelty free lists the only way to be certain the list is cruelty free is to make sure it is vegan and does not include products that  contain animal derivatives. The term cruelty free could simply apply to any product not tested on animals which to some people’s perspective may be cruelty free even if it contains animal derivatives such a lactose from milk or honey for example.

Cosmetics and household products can contain animal ingredients. LUSH has its own range of entirely vegan cosmetics, and on PETA US’ cruelty-free list, other vegan companies are clearly marked with a “V”. Of course, other companies may produce products which are entirely free of animal ingredients, and you can find out which ones by checking the labels before buying any product.

Animal Ingredients List

While we hope this list proves helpful, we also want to emphasize that no one can avoid every single animal ingredient. Being vegan is about helping animals, not maintaining personal purity. Boycotting products that may contain trace amounts of animal products can actually be harmful to animals in the long run. For example, by refusing to eat a veggie burger from a restaurant because the bun may contain traces of milk or eggs, you are discouraging that restaurant from offering vegan options because it is seems too difficult a task. So use our list as a guide, and do your best to avoid animal ingredients

Here is a full list of animal-derived ingredients to watch out for

A sure way to tell if the product is vegan is to look for the vegan Society’s logo, however this does not necessarily mean that products without this logo are not vegan.

Cruelty Free UK

In the UK and elsewhere in Europe, we still have an important ethical choice to make when buying cosmetics. Companies may be complying with the cosmetics testing ban in Europe, but at the same time, they are selling products in another market that have been tested on animals. By buying cosmetics from companies that are on PETA US’ list, you can be confident that you are supporting only companies that don’t test any products anywhere in the world for any market. Another concern is that companies may be testing ingredients for other purposes – for example, testing chemicals under the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulation.
