Update June 20th

I have just come across the following petition which is well worth signing, the more we sign petitions, send messages, make phone calls and e-mail, the more chance there is of stopping this barbarity.

Please send a message to the ambassador of the Chinese embassy in the USA.

Tell the Chinese embassy that dog slaughter must end.
http://www.stopdogmeat.com/  – you can sign this even if you do not live in the USA. I have just signed and sent the message which was counted. So please everyone sign. This is a simple message that requires no editing.

More action you can take.

E-mail or telephone the Chinese Embassy in your country.

It’s not too late to send an e-mail or telephone the Chinese embassy of your country

Click this link to locate the contact details of your country’s the Chinese embassy:

Most of the links lead directly to one e-mail address.

However in the case of the UK and maybe others you may need to click on the embassy’s website link for e-mail details. This is the case for the UK but not the USA and many others I checked which have a direct e-mail address. You may also be presented with more than one e-mail choice as is the case of the UK’s Chinese embassy’s website, In the case of the UK I would think that the cultural e-mail address below would be the most likely, though I cannot say for sure.

China is a modern progressive country, there is no place in any modern society for the barbaric cruelty that is about to take place in Yulin to celebrate the summer solstice. Dogs, and cats also, are included in this blood bath of inhumanity. These animals are sentient beings who feel pain and suffer as would you or I or any other living being. They have a right to their lives as do we and indeed all creatures. I cannot understand the mentality of people who indulge in such behaviour, what joy, pleasure or even satisfaction can they derive from such cruelty.

Surely there is a far better way to celebrate the summer solstice and it is celebrated the world over in a more appropriate manner.

Here is how it is celebrated at Stonehenge in the UK:

Help Save Thousands of Dogs From Torture and Death: Petition to End Yulin Dog Eating Festival

“Very little of the great cruelty shown by men can really be attributed to cruel instinct. Most of it comes from thoughtlessness or inherited habit. The roots of cruelty, therefore, are not so much strong as widespread. But the time must come when inhumanity protected by custom and thoughtlessness will succumb before humanity championed by thought. Let us work that this time may come.”

Albert Schweitzer

Please help to stop the Yulin dog eating festival from taking place this year. This is a barbaric and cruel event which doesn’t warrant the description of a festival. It takes place on June 21st to celebrate the summer solstice but is in reality an excuse for sickening cruelty to helpless animals that has no place in any modern society and should be consigned to history along with all the other inhumane atrocities perpetrated against both human and non human animals down through the ages.

Warning very disturbing images, just so heartbreaking.

Yulin, hell on earth for cats & dogs! #StopYuLin2015

According to this video 4,000 cats are also tortured and murdered in this festival of horror.

Please help stop this hideous festival by signing the following petition and taking the actions further down.

Petition: End Yulin Dog Eating Festival

“Killing innocent dogs to eat them — and torturing them only so they have more flavor — needs to stop!!!

We at “RAISE UR PAW” are asking for you to raise the voices and paws of the world to help ban the YULIN DOG MEAT EATING FESTIVAL, which is going to occur on June 21, 2015. Countless canine lives will be sacrificed in order to fulfill a barbaric tradition that has been permitted to occur for many years – and it is now time this horror is finally put to an end.”

Please read more and sign the petition

Please continue reading more information from care2

“Over 10,000 dogs — many just puppies — were killed at last year’s summer solstice festival in Yulin, China. And it’s going to happen all over again this June, unless people like you speak out to stop the horrific event.

One of the most terrifying things about the festival is that it leads to many abductions of household pets by kidnappers looking to make a quick buck as the festival begins. CNN reports that local animal lovers often try to buy the dogs before the butchers can, but the dog sellers often refuse to sell to the activists.

The good news is that the Chinese government really is feeling the pressure. According to the Guardian newspaper, the country has started regulating the dog meat trade, and sales dropped by a third from 2013 to 2014. You have their attention on this issue, so another international outcry could very well save thousands of dogs!

Sign Elisa’s Care2 petition to Chinese President Xi Jinping: Save the puppies and end the Yulin Dog Meat Festival!”

More information and ideas for action:

Lets not forget that the killing of any animal for meat even if not in such an horrific way is reprehensible, cruel and unnecessary and has to stop. A sheep, a cow or a pig wants to live as much as your cat or dog. All are mammals, all are sentient creatures, all feel pain and suffer as a result of the meat trade, all animals fear death and wish to survive it is one of our most powerful instincts which all animals share.

The Yulin festival has nothing to do with the celebration of the summer solstice it is not even an ancient tradition

Rather like the Gadhimai festival the Yuling celebration is incongruous with a modern progressive ethical society and has nothing to do with culture, tradition or religion and only began in the 1990s.

Act Now: There is still time to stop this horrific celebration of the summer solstice in China where 15,000 dogs are to be slaughtered.

There is still time to stop this horrific celebration of the summer solstice in China where 15,000 dogs are to be slaughtered. What this has to be with this celebration I cannot imagine. To celebrate a highlight in the course of a natural event – the longest day – with a blood bath is appalling.

Each year in a town called Yulin in China, 10,000 to 15000 dogs are slaughtered every June as part of a summer solstice “festival”?

“On June 21st, over 10,000 dogs are expected to be slaughtered in a town called Yulin in China for its dog meat festival. This is our last chance to stop the dog slaughter before it’s too late.

While some cultures do not consider dogs as domesticated animals, the slaughter of thousands of innocent animals is worth speaking up against. The festival has been canceled before. If enough people speak up, we can stop it once more.

Please take the urgent action to help stop Yulin’s summer dog meat festival.”

If you have not already signed the following petitions below please do so now. The more people who do the better the chances of stopping this.

Please begin with this petition which is really an email. It is all written for you , you merely have to add your name and email address.

Need to know more?

I mentioned this hideous festival previously:

It has to be said that the slaughter of billions of farm and sea animals world-wide is just as shocking and we should never forget or become complacent about this.

However if we can but stop one such savagery and brutality it will be progress indeed.

As a matter of interest

There are better ways to celebrate the summer solstice:

Wheel of the Year Festival – Summer Solstice (Meditation)

The longest day, a mid-point, where the sun stands still upon the horizon. This marks the height of summer and the solar principle in its full radiance while the earth too is reaching fullness. On the map of human existence, mid-life is a time of self-exploration, consideration, choice, rejection and deciding which road to take.
